Turbo + Intercooler (manual gearbox)

When I got inspired by Henri's Polo Turbo project, he reacted, and handed this diesel turbo, and this carburator and fuel pressure regulator.
To mount the turbo onto the engine, I made a design for the headers in 3D, and had some pipes bent.

A lot of measuring, cutting and welding on a spare engine finally gave me this manifold.

To cool things down Henri ultimately also trew in a giant intercooler!

This is a picture with the front bumper mounted again
(it will be easy to overlook the car's new potentioal :-))

To ease the fabrication of all the interconnecting boost piping, I used cardboard templates.
Shape of the template then was reproduced with ø48mm tubes.

A adapter was fabricated to be able to mount the Renault 5 blow through carburator onto the Colt's intake manifold. (yes I did remove the material obstructing the passage :-))

This is a picture of the carburator and boost pipe installed on the car.

The adapter on top of the carb looks a bit crude, but is nice and smooth on the inside.

Oil return fabricated in the oil pan.

Exhaust pipe made from SS ø50mm pipe just fitted between the headers and radiator.

To be able to keep the battery in the engine compartment (extra weight on the front tires!), we cut the tank for the windshield washers of the tank of the radiator overflow.
Then a simple mount was fabricated to mount the battery in his new position.

This is a picture of battery at his new location.

Later a metal shield has been added to keep the heat from the turbo body away from the battery.
